A Letterkenny driver who sped away from Gardai has been banned from driving for three years after being found guilty of drink-driving.
Edward Gough, 22, appeared at Letterkenny District Court following an incident at Long Lane on January 31st last.
Gardai were on patrol when they approached a driver who sped off.
The man was later approached and Gardai suspected he had consumed alcohol.
The man was identified as Edward Gough of Ballyraine Park, Letterkenny who was then taken to Letterkenny Garda Station.
A breath sample taken from the 22-year-old showed a reading of 69mgs of alcohol per 100mls of breath.
Solicitor for the accused, Mr Frank Dorrian, said his client had no previous convictions and had simply made a mistake.
Judge Cunningham fined Gough €250 and banned him from driving for three years allowing five months to pay the fine.
