Young Letterkenny jockey clinches victory in Mullingar

Letterkenny’s Brody Ferry was in winning form at the Mullingar Horse and Pony Races on Sunday.

Brody, aged 12 (soon to be 13), was first over the line on Little Lioness in the opener of the last meeting of the 2023 season in Mullingar, Co Westmeath.

This is a remarkable achievement for Brody as it was his first season riding. Brody, the son of Dean and Cathy Ferry, has had super support from his family who are already looking forward to seeing what he can do in the 2024 season.

Despite his young age, Brody is already proving to be a talented jockey. He has recently started secondary school at St Eunan’s College in Letterkenny. Between studying and competing, Brody is a busy young man, but he remains passionate about both pursuits.

Patrick Mc Gettigan and Tiernan Mc Gill, also from Donegal, are also ones to watch in the horse and pony racing scene who had great seasons.
