West Donegal pensioner charged with spate of alleged sexual offences

A West Donegal pensioner has appeared in court charged with numerous alleged sexual offences.

The accused man cannot be named to protect the identity of the alleged victims.

Detective Garda Eugene Organ told Falcarragh District Court that he arrested the man at 9am this morning at Main Street in Milford.

When the charges were put to the accused he made no reply.

The man is charged with a number of alleged offences including indecent assault and sexual assault.

The alleged offences were committed against a number of victims and took place on various dates in both the 1980s and 1990s.

The man was released on his own bail with a number of conditions set down by Judge Éiteáin Cunningham.

They include that he reside at his own address, he have no contact in any way with any injured party or witnesses and to commit no further offence.

The man’s solicitor, Mr Frank Dorrian, was granted legal aid for his client after stating he was a pensioner.

The case was adjourned until December 20th next to allow for the preparation of a book of evidence.
