Man charged with reversing into Letterkenny off-licence premises

A man who reversed a car into the front of an off-license premises in Letterkenny has been sent forward for trial to the Circuit Court.

Liam Boyle appeared at Letterkenny District Court facing a range of charges.

Garda Sergeant Gerard Dalton told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions had agreed to send Boyle forward for trial at the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court commencing on October 17th.

The 26-year-old, of College Park, Letterkenny, was represented by solicitor Ciaran Haran.

Boyle faces a number of motoring offences including dangerous driving, causing criminal damage and hit and run (failing to stop).

Boyle is also charged that on May 12th, 2022 at Carry Out Off-Licence at Pearse Road, Letterkenny, he intentionally or recklessly engaged in conduct that he reversed a white Dacia Duster into the front of the premises while there were a number of person present inside which created a substantial risk of death or serious injury or harm to another.

This charge was Contrary to Section 13 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act of 1997.

Legal aid was granted fro counsel to Mr Haran and the alibi warning was given by Judge Éiteáin Cunningham.

The case was adjourned.
