A man who waved down a patrol car and then banged on its bonnet has been fined.
Paul Crossan appeared at Letterkenny District Court after being arrested under the Public Order Act.
Garda Patrick McDermott told the court that on June 13th, 2021, Gardai were on patrol at Lower Main Street in Letterkenny.
They were approached by a man who banged on their bonnet who said he was going to injure somebody.
Crossan, aged 46, was arrested for his own safety and taken to Letterkenny Garda Station.
A fixed charge notice (FCN) was issued to Crossan or Westside Apartments, Letterkenny but this was never paid.
The man’s solicitor said he had spoken to the accused who had asked him to appear as he was now working in Wexford.
The court was told that Crossan has previous convictions for public order issues but they were of “some vintage” and went back to 2017.
Judge Éiteáin Cunningham convicted Crossan and fined him €100.
