Ardara got off to flying start and never looked back in this impressive performance and victory over a disappointing Cloughaneely team.
Ardara 2-13 Cloughaneely 0-10
Cloughaneely never really got going but that was due mainly to their opponents not letting them settle into any pattern.
Blake McGarvey gave Cloughaneely the lead in the first minute but John Ross Molloy replied with a goal for Ardara a minute later and very quickly Ardara took control with points from CJ Molloy, two from Karl Joseph Molloy and a excellent long range from Kevin White while Shaun Curran added Cloughaneely’s second point, 1-04 to 0-02.
McGarvey and Jason McGee both scored from play to leave a goal between them but Ardara cut loose again to take command.
Karl Joseph Molloy added another point, then hammered the ball to the net after Cloughaneely’s defence had been cut wide open yet again to leave it 2-05 to 0-04.
Ciaran Coll pointed a Cloughaneely free but Karl Joseph Molloy kicked two super points to bring his first-half total to 1-05 and Ardara ahead by 2-07 to 0-05 at the break.
The teams exchanged four points early in the second-half ,all from frees, Karl Joseph Molloy for Ardara , Darren Ferry with both for Cloughaneely.
That pattern continued with Shane Whyte and Karl J Molloy scoring for Ardara with Conor Coyle and Shaun McClafferty replying for Cloughaneely , 2-11 to 0-09.
Kevin Whyte and John Ross Molloy added further Ardara points as they ran out easy winners and a place in the last eight of the championship on a final score of 2-13 to 0-10.
