FAI Junior Cup
Kilmacrennan Celtic 2 v 1 Culdaff F.C.
Kilmacrennan are through to the next round FAI Cup after a tough fixture against a hard working Culdaff on Friday night at Letterkenny Community Centre. On 25 minutes Cathal Mc Daid scored a great header for the second week in a row when he rose highest at the back post to convert a great cross from Sam Harvey
Culdaff equalised on 35 minutes and both teams then had chances to go ahead. On 40 min Gerard Mc Granaghan scored a great header from a Cathal Mc Daid cross and Kilmacrennan went in at half-time in front. The second half saw Kilmacrennan control the game but both sides had chances. Best for Kilmacrennan were Chris Flanagan and Gerard Mc Granaghan. Referee: Packie Coll

Glencar Inn Saturday Division One
Cappry Rovers Reserves 0 v 4 Glencar Celtic
Glencar came out the traps flying and went ahead through Paddy Collins. They then missed a good few chances and couldn’t get the second. Cappry nearly caught them on the counter-attack a couple of times. In the second half Glencar started strong again and got their second from a free-kick from Joe Mc Carron. They then got a 3rd from Joe Baker with an acrobatic over-head kick that flew into the top corner. Graham Cullen finished off the scoring when he met a Joe Mc Carron corner to make it 4-0. The Cappry goal-keeper made a few great saves during the match.
Donegal Town Reserves 1 v 2 Arranmore United

Fintown Harps AFC 1 v 2 Keadue Rovers Reserves
There were some good spells for both teams with Keadue hitting the crossbar and Fintown unlucky when a great effort came off the post and rebounding over the crossbar. The visitors broke the deadlock going in at the break one up. Fintown came out for the second-half and pressed well. They brought the game level with Sergei scoring from a Jamie Mc Monagle corner. Fintown had plenty of chances to go ahead but it was not to be. Late in the second half Keadue applied the pressure with Karl making some great saves in the Fintown nets. With only a few minutes to go in the game Keadue scored from a corner to claim the victory with the game ending 2-1.
Glenea United Reserves 1 v 5 Oldtown Celtic
In fine conditions, it was the away side that came out in top in this clash. In a tight start to the first half, both sides looked to create chances but they only had a disallowed goal apiece to show for their efforts. The away side took the lead on 25 minutes when Michael Guisse curled home a free-kick. Oldtown almost extended their lead a couple of minutes later when Sean Cleary got through but saw his effort come back off the post. Glenea almost equalised on 30 minutes when Kevin Boyle’s cross from the right was headed goa-ward by Patrick Mc Fadden but his effort was well saved by Michael Gibson. Oldtown extended their lead on 35 minutes when, after good work down the left, Sean Cleary was on hand to stab home the ball. Glenea pulled a goal back on 43 minutes when PJ Doogan’s corner went in at the back post. In a tight start to the second-half Oldtown dominated the possession but the home side were happy to sit in deep. As the half progressed the home side came more into the game but were unable to create any clear-cut chances. The away side extended their lead on 65 minutes when Tommy Mc Laughlin was played in and he slotted home from inside the box. Oldtown got their 4th goal on 68 minutes when Glenea failed to deal with a
free-kick and Sean Cleary fired home from close range. Glenea tried hard to get back into the game and had a couple of half chances. Oldtown completed the scoring on 80 minutes when Ciaran Guisse picked up a loose ball and fired home from 25 yards. Best for Glenea were Kevin Boyle and PJ Doogan while Ciaran Guisse and Sean Cleary impressed for Oldtown. Referee: Con McLaughlin.
Kildrum Tigers Reserves 2 v 2 St. Catherines Reserves
In a tight opening 10 minutes St. Catherines pushed forward with the help of a tight Foyle breeze. The home side took the lead on 18 minutes when a corner fell to Keelan Gillen at the back post. Both teams had a few chances and 5 minutes before half time St. Catherines got their equaliser. In the second half
Kildrum pushed from the start but it was St. Catherines who took the lead in the 57th minute. With 15 minutes to go Gillen was taken down in the box, Gareth Colhoun put away the resultant penalty. Both teams pushed for the winner but the game ended all in a draw.
Kilmacrennan Celtic Reserves 3 v 1 Strand Rovers
A youthful Kilmacrennan team continued their recent good form with an impressive home win against the previously unbeaten Strand Rovers at the Letterkenny Community Centre. The home side started brightly, keeping the ball well and pinning the visitors deep into their own half. The pressure told midway through the first half when a ball down the line allowed Jack O’ Neill to beat the full back and when his initial shot hit the post, O’ Neill reacted the quicker to slot home at the second attempt. Soon afterwards it was two when a flowing move from the home side saw the ball fall to young midfielder Ciaran Cassidy and he showed great composure to fire home. It was total control at this stage from Kilmacrennan and their dominance was further rewarded just before half time, the move starting with the keeper before full back Mc Grenra’s cross was brilliantly finished from close range by Cormac Brady. Strand came out strong in the 2nd half but despite their efforts they were unable to breach the Kilmacrennan rearguard until 10 minutes from time when Michael O’ Donnell scored but the young Kilmacrennan team held firm to see out the game for a valuable three points.
Old Orchard Saturday Division Two
Drumbar United 1 v 2 Ballybofey United Reserves
Drumbar welcomed Ballybofey for league action. It was a fast start from both sides, with both teams creating opportunities in the early exchanges. Drumbar took the lead through Josh Mc Crea, finishing from a corner set piece to make it 1-0 to Drumbar. Ballybofey pulled themselves back level when a great ball was delivered to the back post for the Ballybofey attacker to finish well to level it just at half time. The game ebbed and flowed throughout the second half but it was Ballybofey who scored the winner when they earned a free kick on the edge of the Drumbar penalty area. A low driven effort into the bottom corner of the Drumbar net made it 2-1. Ballybofey defended well to see the game out despite Drumbar’s best efforts. This was a very entertaining game.
Drumoghill F.C. Reserves 3 v 5 Milford United Reserves
Milford took lead on 20 minutes through a mix-up in the Drumoghill defence. Conor Gallagher got Drumoghill back on level terms with a well taken goal after great work on the right from Danny Harkin.
Milford regained the lead on halftime with a deflected free kick. Drumoghill levelled again through another great finish from Conor Gallagher after some great work by Christy Smith. Drumoghill then took the lead on 60 minutes through a deflected Mickey Melaugh effort. Drumoghill missed a host of chances to see the game out but couldn’t find the net. A high looping ball found its way into the Drumoghill net to level it at 3-3. Drumoghill then gave away two penalties to gift Milford the points. Best for Drumoghill were Conor Gallagher and Danny Harkin. A team effort Milford.
Dunlewey Celtic 5 v 2 Copany Rovers
Windy conditions at Glentornan Park for Dunlewey’s second home fixture of the season. Both sides started brightly and it was the visitors who took the lead when they capitalised on loose defending in the box and James Kerrigan got onto a loose ball to tap in. Dunlewey pulled one back when Patrick Mc Geady latched onto a cross at the back post to powerfully head home to level the game after 20 minutes. Dunlewey pressed on and took the lead when Sean O’ Donnell struck sweetly into the bottom corner from 25 yards. Dunlewey went 3-1 up when Chris Cannon finished from close range. Copany pulled a goal back before half time when Calvin Kylie broke behind the Dunlewey backline and finished neatly. 3-2 the score at half time.
Copany started the second half with the wind at their backs. The game was end to end for a while but Dunlewey gave themselves a two-goal cushion when Sean O’ Donnell scored his second of the game with a fine header. Conor Duffy wrapped up the game for Dunlewey on 80 minutes. 5-2 the final score to the hosts. Sean O’Donnell with a man of the match performance in the centre of the field with two goals.

Swilly Rovers Reserves 4 v 2 Cranford United Reserves
Swilly continued their good start to the campaign with a 4th win in as many games. A slow starting game saw few chances in the first half until Daniel Mc Ateer broke the deadlock in the 30th minute with a close-range effort. Eight minutes later Cranford got the equaliser when Paddy Mc Geever caught the ball on his chest turned and volleyed into the top left corner. Swilly 1 – 1 Cranford halftime score. Swilly started the 2nd half sharply and took the lead again in the 48th minute when Ryan Mc Daid’s strike dipped before the keeper and found the back of the net. Cranford bounced back again when Mc Geever got his 2nd of the game from a close-range header. Swilly got in front again on the 73rd minute when Ryan Moore’s corner found the head of Tony Gallagher who fired home. Daniel Mc Ateer finished up the scoring in the 84th minute when he was played through and beat the keeper. Referee: Trevor Hay.
Finn Travel Saturday Division Three
Drumkeen United Reserves 1 v 8 Erne Wanderers
Erne Wanderers were the visitors to St Patrick’s Park on Saturday afternoon for this game in this Finn Travel Saturday Division Three. The visitors dominated the first half and took an early lead through Philip Patton. Drumkeen had a good chance to get back on level terms quickly but Lee Guthrie’s effort went just wide of the post. Erne continued to press and got another goal through Jakub Naperski and the led at half time by two goals to nil. Drumkeen began the second half well and a comeback looked to be on the cards when Liam Grant headed home from a Lee Guthrie corner. Unfortunately for Drumkeen that was as good as it got as Philip Patton got his second for Erne with a fine strike from long range. Patton nearly added another but was denied by a good save from Evan Higgins. The comeback didn’t last long as Erne added further goals as a Gerard Gallagher hat-trick put the game beyond Drumkeen. Erne added further goals from Ceallach Mitchell and Philip Patton completed his hat-trick. Young Shay Deasley nearly pulled a goal back from a Lee Guthrie corner but his touch sent it just over the bar. Erne were just too strong on the day and scored some fine goals with long Range strikes. Drumkeen battled away despite the second half scoreline in a game which was played in a good Sporting Manner throughout.
Fanad United Reserves 0 v 3 Letterkenny Rovers Reserves
League leaders Letterkenny Rovers travelled to Traigh-a-Loch on Saturday and went away with a 3-0 victory. All the damage was done in the first-half of a keenly contested game. It was Letterkenny who opened the scoring in the 6th minute when DJ Mc Cauley beat the offside trap to slot the ball past stand-in Fanad keeper Daibhid Lynch. Fanad came close to an equaliser 10 minutes later when Ethan Ferry crashed a free kick from 30 yards off the Letterkenny crossbar. Letterkenny extended their lead in the 26th minute when a cross into the box came off the unfortunate Darren Lynch for an own goal. Five minutes before the break Letterkenny go their 3rd goal when Kieran Doherty curled a beautiful shot into the top corner from the edge of the box. Ten minutes into the 2nd half Caolan Mc Elwaine did well to clear off the line to deny Letterkenny a 4th goal. On 70 minutes Daibhid Lynch produced a fine save to deny Darragh Morrisson. Five minutes from time Ryan Moffitt cleared off the line to deny Letterkenny a 4th goal. And in the closing stages Ciaran Mc Elwaine almost got a consolation goal for Fanad but his shot was brilliantly saved.

Lagan Harps Reserves 3 v 0 Gweedore United Reserves
Lagan got off to a bright start, passing the ball well, and took the lead on six minutes, a free-kick from Ciaran Quinn. Lagan dominated most of the first half but just couldn’t find that second goal. Gweedore United started the second half brightly and forced a good save from Lagan keeper Callum Crampsie. Lagan created a lot of chances in the second half but just couldn’t find that second goal, Lagan then struck with two late goals to kill the game off, Ross Hamlyn fired into the top corner from out near the touchline and Darragh Keaveney tapped in from close-range to finish off a comfortable win
FAI Junior Cup
Fanad United 0 v 1 (a.e.t.) Buncrana Hearts
The current Donegal League Premier Division and Inishowen Premier Division champions, Fanad United and Buncrana Hearts clashed at Traigh-a-Loch on Saturday night and it was Buncrana who progressed to the next round of the FAI Junior Cup after a 1-0 win. Played in blustery conditions, good football was at a premium with chances scarce at times. In the 5th minute a Darragh O’ Doherty corner was met by Declan O’Donnell however he headed wide of the Buncrana post. On 25 minutes Christy Mc Kinley broke through on goal and as he looked certain to score Fanad centre-half James Gallagher produced a superb goal saving tackle in the box. A minute later Fanad broke upfield and a good Peter Carr cross was headed over by Daibhid Lynch. Fanad had another half-chance in the 35th minute when James Gallagher shot wide after a Peter Carr free kick. Playing with the wind in the second half, Buncrana started to get a grip of the game. Ten minutes into the half Seanie Bradley held the ball up well and when he played it back to Christy Mc Kinley his shot was easily saved by Mark Mc Conigley. On the hour mark James Adair crossed into the Fanad box but Seanie Bradley was unable to trouble the Fanad goal. With time running out Fanad thought they had secured the win when Dylan Mc Glone pounced to score however he was deemed to be offside.
Just as the 1st period of extra time got underway Buncrana got the vital breakthrough. The ball was held up by Seanie Bradley and when he laid it back to Kieran Mc Daid he fired a superb left footed shot into the top corner. Fanad pushed for an equaliser with a few half chances. Buncrana should have wrapped it up with 5 minutes to go when Aaron McDaid’s excellent cross evaded all incoming attackers.

Gweedore Celtic 0 v 5 Kildrum Tigers
For the second successive week Gweedore Celtic came out on the wrong side of a five nil scoreline and are finding it hard to gain results in a highly competitive Division. Despite a good opening twenty minutes when they put the visitors under pressure, they were undone in a two-minute spell midway through the half when James Connolly and Brian Breslin capitalised on defensive errors to punish poor defending to give the Tigers a comfortable two nil interval lead. Gweedore opened brightly in the opening period of the second half but they had a mountain to climb when they lost Liam Wiggins to a second yellow which made Kildrum’s task somewhat easier. The young Gweedore team battled gamely but three late goals from Shane Mc Ginty, Jacob Mc Daid and Oran Higgins made it a comfortable victory for Kildrum.
Best for Gweedore Jamie Doherty and Ciaran Mc Hugh.
Kildrum’s best were Shane Mc Ginty and Ronan Mc Kinley.

Cranford United 2 v 5 Donegal Town
On a wet and windy day in Cranford Park it was the visitors who went away with the three points. In a tight first half both sides had some chances but it was Cranford who took the lead from a Paddy Sheils header from a corner. Five minutes before half time Donegal Town equalised the same way. Donegal Town started the second half stronger and went 2-1 up before making it 3 soon after from another corner. Cranford rallied to get back into it and did so from a Chris Carr free kick. With Cranford pushing for an equaliser Donegal scored two late goals on the break.
Gweedore United 7 v 2 Letterbarrow Celtic
Gweedore recorded their first home win of the campaign with this comprehensive win against Letterbarrow. The home side started at a quick pace and Kevin Cassidy rattled the crossbar from 30 yards in the first minute. In the second minute Fionnan Coyle made it 1-0 to United with a tap in from close range. The home side continued to press Gerard Mc Brearty got a shot away in the 6th minute which Oran Craig in the United nets saved well. In the 10th minute the home side went 2-0 up when a good strike from Mark Mc Fadden went into the bottom corner after a slight deflection put the keeper the wrong way. In the 12th minute it was 3-0, this time Fionnan Coyle finishing well from close range after some neat football. It was 4-0 in the 19th minute after another nice move by Cathal Gillespie was nicely crossed low into the box by Fionnan Coyle for Stephen Doyle Mc Fadden to finish well. In the 32nd minute the home side were awarded a penalty which Darren Ferry slotted past John Leonard. In the 41st minute Jamie Mc Gee made it 6-0 when his shot nestled in to the bottom corner. In the second half United continued to play well and in the 61st minute young Stephen Mulhern got his first senior goal for the club with a great finish from inside the box. Letterbarrow to their credit continued to battle. In the 72nd minute the visitors were awarded a free-kick which Gerard Mc Brearty hit well and Cian Gallagher parried back to Mc Brearty who finished well. The home side seemed unsettled after several enforced changes and in the 74th minute Letterbarrow pulled a second back when James Boyd pressed a defensive error to tap in from close range.

Dunkineely Celtic 0 v 7 Ballybofey United
Ballybofey started well and almost took the lead when Daithí McMahon and Jude Patton played a nice one two but Daithí fired just wide. Ballybofey nearly went ahead again when Damien Glackin gave a nice ball to Josh Preston but his shot was saved by the keeper and Daithí smashed the rebound against the bar. Ballybofey finally went ahead with a lovely strike from Glackin. They soon doubled their lead when Patton put in a great ball and Glackin headed it home. He then completed his hat-trick on the 30-minute mark with a nice finish giving the keeper no chance. Ballybofey made it four just before half-time when Paul Kelly lobbed the keeper from range. Ballybofey nearly scored again after a Paul Kelly free kick was well saved by the keeper and the follow up went narrowly wide. Jude Patton got his well-deserved goal when substitute Leo Mc Aleer put in a nice ball and he slid in at the back post to make it five. Daithí made it six when he got on the end of a lovely through ball from Damien Glackin. Jude Patton swung in a great ball and Adam Mc Cullagh headed it in from close range for Ballybofey’s seventh and final goal of the day.
Ballybofey continue their great start to the season.
Lifford Celtic 6 v 0 Drumkeen United
Shay Lindsay opened the scoring on 18 minutes from a Mattie Doherty cross. Lindsay got his second on 22 minutes from Ryan Stewart cross. Daniel Lindsay made it 3-0 to Lifford on 26 minutes. Shay Lindsay completed his hat-trick on 38 minutes from a Kevin Mc Brearty cross, 4-0. Sean Ferry added another on 78 minutes, the assist going to Matty Doherty. The 6th goal was scored by Sean Ferry on 90 minutes when he was set-up by Colin Carlin.
Raphoe Town 2 v 2 Kerrykeel ’71 F.C.
Raphoe came out of the blocks fast when they welcomed Kerrykeel to Drumineney and in the second minute quick link up play between Raphoe young guns Kyle Martin and Oisin Kelly put Oran Kelly through on goal to slot home from just inside the 18-yard box. Raphoe pressed, looking for a second, however it was Kerrykeel who scored next to level the game at 1-1 in the 16th minute. But that didn’t deter this young side and they hit back two minutes later when Oisin Kelly played Kyle Martin through to chip the keeper from 30 yards for a superb goal. With veteran Craig Kelly keeping the back-line in shape Raphoe dominated the play however they didn’t convert a lot of the chances they created. Kerrykeel with their experience hung in there and were rewarded five minutes from the end to get a share of the points with the game finishing 2-2.
Whitestrand United 1 v 6 Drumoghill F.C.
Whitestrand United took on Drumoghill at Mc Garvey Park. Whitestrand were still reeling from a narrow loss the previous week and started the game well. Drumoghill gradually grew into the game and took the lead on the half hour from a corner which was headed home by Lee Smith. This was followed by a 10- minute spell when Drumoghill killed the game as a goal from Barry Tourish and two from Conor Doohan left Whitestrand 4-0 down at half time. Whitestrand started the second-half strongly. From a free-kick Paddy Sheridan hit the post. Drumoghill scored 2 more through Colin Gardiner and Doohan claiming the match ball! Cormac Dunleavy scored what proved to be no more than a consolation for Whitestrand to complete the scoring on what was a bad day at the office for the Mc Garvey Park men.
FAI Junior Cup
Bonagee United 7 v 0 Deele Harps
This was a very one sided match from start to finish. The home side’s first chance fell to Aiden Mc Laughing on ten minutes when his strike on goal from fifteen yards was blocked by a defender. Two minutes later he saw his header from six yards saved by the keeper. The home team took the lead on twenty-two minutes when a great ball into the box from the left was hammered home by the incoming Pauric Gilsenan. It was two nil on thirty-eight minutes when a Jordan Armstrong cross into the box was headed home from eight yards by Aidy Mc Laughlin. The third goal was on fifty minutes when Mc Laughlin got his second after great play down the left by Armstrong who put Eoghan Doherty clear and his cross into the box was finished well by Mc Laughlin. Sub Evan Mc Groary got on the score sheet when he won the ball outside the box on seventy minutes, he beat three defenders to hammers home from fifteen yards. The visitors real first chance in the game was on seventy-five minutes when the ball fell to Tom Mullan wide on the right he cut inside the defender and his strike from the edge of the box came off the top on the crossbar. It was five nil one minute later when a bad kick out was picked up by Dan O’ Donnell who shot home from the edge of the box. It was six on seventy-eight minutes when Ultan Mc Monagle lobbed the keeper. The final goal of the game was on eighty-two minutes when Mc Monagle won the ball on the left he cut inside and shot home from twelve yards. Team effort by both sides and far play to the visitors then kept going to the end. Referee: Barry Maxwell.
Glenea United 0 v 3 Swilly Rovers
In wet conditions in Pairc Joe, Swilly Rovers were the visitors for this FAI Junior Cup clash. There were few chances in the first half for either side and both keepers had very little to do. The most notable Glenea chance came from Micheal mc Hugh as he rushed onto PJ Doogan’s cut back but couldn’t keep the
ball down. Just as it looked like it would be all square at the break, Swilly’s Volodymyr Kovalchuck reacted to a loose ball on the edge of the box and finished into the bottom corner. With the rain intensifying the
second half saw both teams struggling with the underfoot conditions and a mistimed challenge gave Swilly a free kick just inside the Glenea half. The long ball into the box deceived everyone except Ciaran Kelly who
met it on the bounce to give Swilly their second. Swilly’s third came when Ryan Mc Daid raced through and his cross was headed in by Ian Ward. 3-0 to Swilly it ended. Referee: Marty Mc Garrigle
Keadue Rovers 2 v 2 Aileach F.C.

Letterkenny Rovers 2 v 1 Carndonagh F.C.
Letterkenny Rovers took a bit to settle but from 10 minutes onwards they were in control. On 12 minutes the ball fell nicely for Conor Tourish but he just couldn’t get a clean strike on it. On 22 minutes Carndonagh got the break against the run of play. The shot from Carndonagh’s Cade Cooke took a deflection before ending in the Letterkenny net. Nathan Plumb and Gareth Doherty combined well on 27 minutes but they just couldn’t carve an equaliser. On 32 minutes Nathan Plumb delivered a great ball from the left wing to the back post where Zach Gorman got a head to it but he just couldn’t direct to goal. Carndonagh came close again on 43 minutes with a fine strike by Will Quinn from 25 yards. Rovers shot-stopper Blake Forkan was at full stretch and got just enough on it to touch the ball off the post and prevent another goal. On 45 minutes Rovers got a break and a penalty awarded for a foul on Conor Tourish just inside the box. Zach Gorman stepped up and took the penalty scoring and levelling the game at half time 1-1. The second half saw Rovers dominating large portions of the game. On 64 minutes a free kick from Gareth Doherty towards the back post ended up coming to Ryan Lonergan 20 yards out, only to be driven over the bar. On 81 minutes a transition from Rovers’ saw Conor Tourish lob the back-line for Aidy Delap to run on to and drive towards goal. His shot, direct at the keeper, somehow found its’ way through the keeper’s legs and into the net. Carndonagh had one last chance in the dying minutes with Cain Burke’s effort from the right just outside the 18-yard box. It was struck well but veered left hitting the outside of the far post. Rovers held tight for the final moments of injury time to take a deserved win. Referee: Patrick Martin
Rathmullan Celtic 2 v 0 Moville Celtic
Rathmullan Celtic advanced with to the second round of the FAI Junior Cup with a two-goal win over a spirited and youthful Moville side from Inishowen to set up a mouth-watering derby clash with Letterkenny Rovers in the second round of this prestigious Cup. The Hoops opened the scoring on the half hour when in-form winger Kevin Doran hit a cracking daisy cutter from 30 yards which just crept inside Moville keeper Ryan Coyle’s left post. Moville should have equalised on 40 minutes when striker Oisin Lynch missed a gilt-edged chance, denied by Sean Gallagher in goals with a fine save. Star striker Oisin Mc Menamin tormented the Moville defence and was denied on three separate occasions with two strikes going narrowly wide of the post and denied a third time by a fine save from Lynch on 59 minutes.
Moville were unlucky not to equalise on 64 minutes when their striker Lunch saw his effort from the edge of the area rifle back of the post much to the relief of the Hoops’ faithful. The tie was over as a contest on 75 minutes when Morris leaped highest inside the box to head home the finest corner kick delivery from Doran which was heading goal ward with its accuracy. Striker Jay Curran came on for the final 20 minutes and worked tirelessly as the Hoops saw out the game and probably should have increased the score when young striker Charlie Mc Ateer put his effort from inside the box over Lynch’s bar on 80 minutes.
A good win for Sheridan’s Hoops with Conor Temple, Shaky O’Donnell and Jay Curran impressing while Moville’s youthful side can be impressed with their passing around the Flagpole which, for a neutral, was a joy to watch. Referee: Alastair Gourley

Two evenly matched teams battled it out in the incessant rain at Emerald Park.
Goal scoring chances were at a premium with very few chances failing to either team.
The best chance of the half fell to Ryan Cunningham when he was slid through by Alex Mc Ginley but Tiernan Gallagher spread himself well for the away team to deny the opening goal.
Mark Gordon marshalled his defence excellently and was the pivotal reason the game remained scoreless at half time. The game took on a similar picture for the second half with neither keeper having to exert themselves as this FAI Junior Cup clash had extra time wrote all over it. Two young teams, with fitness levels now to the test, had settle for a draw and continue into two halves of extended time.
Tired legs now were the order of the day and chances started to appear at both ends but it was the experienced Ronan Tourish who turned and swivelled on to his left foot at the edge of the saints area to fire low past helpless Michael Mullin and the took the glory for Castlefinn.
Dessie McLaughlin blew 90 seconds later for full time and the visitors move on to the next round.
Ryan Carr had an excellent game for the home team while Corrie Lee Bogan was a stalwart in the middle of the park for the away team.
